Proven Layers
Proven layers are adult hens that have already been part of a laying flock and are being offered as we refresh or adjust our flock. These birds can be a good option for families, homesteads, and backyard flock keepers who want birds that are past the chick stage and already familiar with normal flock life. Typically, these hens are 2-3 years old, with a long productive life ahead of them.
Availability changes based on our current flock plans, laying groups, and seasonal needs. Please review the available bird options carefully before checkout. Please ask any questions regarding individual breed availability.
What to Expect
Proven layers are mature hens, not young chicks or point-of-lay pullets. They already know how to roost, forage, lay in nest boxes, and move with an established flock. Because they are adult birds, they may show normal signs of farm life such as minor feather wear, previous molt, or flock-related wear.
Egg production can vary based on age, season, stress, weather, feed, molt, and adjustment to a new home. We do not guarantee future laying performance, but we only list birds we believe still have many useful laying years ahead of them.

Live poultry is available for local pickup by arrangement in Myakka City, Florida. We do not ship live birds.
Inventory is updated as carefully as possible, but live-animal availability can change quickly. We may be able to accommodate cash purchases by appointment, but birds cannot be held without a confirmed arrangement.
